WHAT IS LEARNED IN THE CRADLE IS
CARRIED TO THE TOMB
Piet decided to become an entrepreneur, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and his father. Piet’s grandfather was a live-stock and vegetable farmer who started a supermarket; his father started a vegetable cutting business. From a young age on, Piet enjoys being involved in his father’s vegetable cutting business. While working in his father’s workshop, Piet realizes that his heart is set on the technical side of the company. Already at his young age, Piet shows ingenuity and devises creative solutions for various technical issues. Being a true entrepreneur, Piet starts his business in 1985, Pannekeet Machine Techniques (PMT).
A FAMILY BUSINESS
As PMT expanded internationally, Piet changed the name into JASA in 2005, many of the international customers find this name easier to pronounce. JASA is a family business which is reflected in the name, stemming from Piet’s children Jarno and Sandra.
GROWTH, FAME & RESPECT
Piet’s entire life is dedicated to JASA; under his leadership, the company is continuously growing, even abroad. Today, JASA has offices in the U.S (Richmond VA) and Germany (Kleve). Over the years, Piet became the most renowned packaging director in the Dutch produce sector. He is acclaimed for his ‘act normal, that’s crazy enough’ mentality (even though he occasionally can have fun acting all weird). Piet is known to be stubborn, just as much as he is devoted and hard-working. His work attitude earned him lots of respect from customers, co-workers, and dealers.
THE RIGHT MOMENT TO SAY FAREWELL
Piet says farewell with peace of mind. His departure from the company is not so much age-related but stems from the phase JASA is in right now. Piet’s focus has always been on the customers, the reason why many tasks were performed on an ad-hoc basis. This changed in 2016 when Piet introduced Eduard de Haan as CEO of JASA. It was Eduard who developed JASA’s long-term strategy and a clear direction for the company. With Eduard managing, JASA made tremendous growth over the past four years and is now ready for its next chapter. The right moment to say farewell for Piet.
WELL-DESERVED TIME FOR HOBBIES
Although Piet says farewell, it will not stop him from frequently showing up at JASA to share a coffee, and still, customers are always welcome to call him.
Piet well earned his leisure-time. After many years of hard-working, Piet will finally find time for his hobbies and other interests. One of his main hobbies; overhauling vintage cars, taking them completely apart, refurbishing all the parts, and building the car up again. Just like he once did with his PMT machines.

A BIG FAREWELL
Piet can be very proud of the magnificent company he established. A farewell to a founder should be a big event. Too bad, that at this time big parties are out of the question, the reason why it is decided that at the next virus-free occasion, which probably will be the Fruit Logistica 2022 in Berlin, a proper farewell party will be held, entertaining, lots of customers, dealers and dear ones from the business for a big farewell to Piet.
