Last Wednesday King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima paid a visit to the Betuwe. During their visit, the royal couple was offered “the first circular packaging of apples”. This packaging was produced on our JASA Sleever!

Sustainability as theme during the visit
During this lovely sunny day, the royal couple visited Opheusden, Tiel, Culemborg and Geldermalsen. The King and Queen took their time to talk to all the Dutchies who were there to welcome them. At JASA we were pleased with the fact that ‘sustainability’ was one of the main themes of the day. Maikel van Wiggen and Hendrik van den Berg were there to represent JASA.
Royal guests under the fruit trees
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima walked past the fruit trees in the garden they visited, and under the trees, the royal couple was informed about circular fruit cultivation. The royal couple was very interested in the process and asked the fruit-growers several questions. They also visited the sorting and packaging station of FruitMasters where they discussed, among other things, sustainable packaging. That’s our cup of tea! With our focus on sustainable packaging, we are constantly making an effort to produce innovative and sustainable packagings. We recently received an award for this, namely the NL Packaging Award in the category Technical Innovation.

JASA’s sleeve in the hands of Queen Máxima
A special moment took place when the royal couple was at FruitMasters: the King and Queen received “the first circular packaging of apples”. The first completely plastic-free fruit packaging, which is also 100% recyclable. Produced on our JASA Sleever! What a wonderful moment to see our sleeve in the hands of our Queen!

JASA’s 100% recyclable sleeve for apples
JASA is constantly engaged in studying possibilities to package products in a more sustainable way. With that goal in mind, we focus on complete packaging lines for apples. Apples are often packaged per four or six pieces in a tray, with a plastic film to hold them together. At JASA we figured: let’s make it more sustainable. This led us to the completely plastic-free cardboard sleeve packaging. Therefore we are more than happy that our sustainable packaging has found its way into the hands of our King and Queen!
