Family business JASA has started its USA adventure. On Sunday morning 28th of October Joost, Sandra, Florian, Luca and Tess (the children’s babysitter) were given a send-off by family and friends at Schiphol before boarding the plane to Richmond.
Friends and family wall
The month leading up to their departure was a hectic time for Joost and Sandra. Everything revolved around their departure to Richmond. On the 6th of October, they hosted a private farewell party at home. Friends and family were invited to say goodbye to the family, and they did in great numbers. The two cakes were finished much faster than anticipated. Luckily there were enough hotdogs for the barbecue in line with the American theme of the party.
Guests were asked not to bring presents. But if people wanted to bring something Sandra and Joost asked if they could bring a picture frame so they could create a 'friends and family wall' in their new home, which everyone did. It was an amazing day with a lot of laughs and a few tears.
A logistic challenge
When you move internationally, there’s a lot to do and organize. Like loading your belongings into a container and have it shipped to America. For Joost and Sandra, this happened on the 24th and 25th of October. After that, there was a goodbye gathering at JASA for all employees. Sandra says:
“After all the preparations we are ready to make the move and we're looking forward to it!”
The adventure can begin
Meanwhile, friends and family are already planning their first trips to Richmond to visit Joost and Sandra. So next to selling Sleevers they will have a lot of friends and family to entertain!
